CVS North is registered with the Central Registered Body in Scotland (CRBS) to sign Disclosure applications for potential staff and volunteers who will be working with children or vulnerable adults.
The Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 update
The Scottish Government is taking forward a comprehensive implementation programme to deliver the provisions outlined in the new Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.The Act will strengthen protection for vulnerable adults through the creation of a list of people barred from working/volunteering with protected adults, completing the safeguards introduced through the Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007, There will also be a list of people barred from working/volunteering with children (which will replace the current Disqualified from Working with Children List ). Both new lists will be manage by a Central Barring Unit. The new vetting and barring scheme is expected to 'go live' Spring/Summer 2009 (although a date has not been decided as yet) along with an improved system which will minimize the bureaucracy of disclosure checks. Details of the scheme are being developed through a comprehensive implementation programme and secondary legislation 2007-08.
